Community Development

As Community Development Worker’s we deliver a range of services that provide practical and social support, designed to be flexible and adapt to the needs of people using these services. We help communities to bring about social change and improve the quality of life in their local area. We work with individuals, families and whole communities to empower them in different fields.

Health and Wellbeing Group

This is our most popular group and gives the ladies the opportunity to come together gain health information, socialise and partake in gentle exercise. We  have a gentle exercise session where the ladies take part in activities such as yoga,  Tai Chi, body balance or walking. We then have a range of speakers come in to discuss issues such as mental health, domestic violence, breast cancer, diabetes, hepatitis, healthy eating and other topics. We also have a raised bed at Lochend Secret Garden where a group of our ladies attend weekly and grow a variety of vegetables.

Several times a year the group has an outing which in the past has included:

High Tea at the Dome, Visits to the Museum, , Lunch at Cosmo’s, and visits to some of Edinburgh’s Art Galleries.

The group meets every Thursday between 12.30pm and 3pm at 20 Hopetoun Street, Edinburgh, EH7 4GH

Every year we have an Annual summer trip that everyone looks forward to, including the staff!
We have visited many places such as;
